Daniel Lott – Shop Team

My name is Daniel, and I am a versatile and passionate skater. It fulfills me to share my enthusiasm for skating and to put a smile on people's faces.

At almost 26 years old, I discovered inline skating. I gave up my previous passion in the field of software engineering, founded my company SkaMiDan, and have since dedicated myself wholeheartedly to the skate life!

Daniel Lott

Profile

1. Year of birth:

1989

2. When did I start skating?

At the end of 2015, when I was almost 26 years old.

3. Personal motto:

Freedom, happiness, and love begin where you stop comparing yourself to others or following social norms, stop fulfilling other people's expectations and desires, and start doing what you want for yourself.

4. Why SkaMiDan?

When I first started inline skating, I was always out on my own. I wanted to change that, so I started a YouTube channel to find other local skaters or to get them to find me.

To keep myself motivated during that time, I started creating the first skate tutorials. That was the beginning of SkaMiDan – the acronym for "Skaten mit Daniel" (Skating with Daniel).

5. Skate disciplines:

  • Fitness Inline Skating
  • Urban Inline Skating
  • Aggressive Inline Skating
  • Freestyle Slalom Skating
  • Offroad Inline Skating
  • Urban Roller Skating
  • Freestyle Roller Skating
  • Ice Skating

6. Which skate discipline do I feel most comfortable in?

Freestyle Slalom Skating: Music on, switch off, and dream.

7. Favorite skate spot(s):

  • Under the open sky, with sunlight and sparkling water.
  • Trendsporthalle (Basel, Switzerland)

8. Greatest achievement in skating?

Being the owner of my own skate shop and always feeling comfortable on my skates.

9. Inspiration

  • I was inspired to skate by memories of my youth, when I used to ride past the local skatepark more often and was fascinated by the tricks of the skaters there.
  • Today, I am inspired by the physical and mental fitness that skating brings, as well as the joy of inspiring others to skate and seeing their eyes light up.

10. Which trick impresses me the most?

  • Swan (Freestyle Slalom Skating)
  • Backwards Toe Christie (Freestyle Slalom Skating)
  • Flips in Grinds (Aggressive Inline Skating)

11. Dream trick:

A handstand on the coping of a pipe, in which I rotate 540° and then drop forward into the pipe (Aggressive Inline Skating).

12. Favorite trick(s):

  • Crazy (Freestyle Slalom Skating)
  • Frontside Grind (Aggressive Inline Skating)
  • P-Star Grind (Aggressive Inline Skating)
  • Handstand (Aggressive Inline Skating)

13. Favorite skate brand(s):

  • Powerslide
  • USD (Universal Skate Design)

14. Favorite skate(s):

  • USD Aeon 60
  • Powerslide HC Evo

15. Skate goal:

I skate for passion and fun and don't have a specific goal that I could describe with an achievement, such as landing a certain trick or winning a competition.

However, my goal is to share my passion for skating. To achieve this, I want to produce as many skate videos and skate tutorials as possible and, in combination with these, gather a lot more information about skating and make it accessible to everyone.

16. Music while skating:

  • Favorite artists: Samy Deluxe, Julia Meladin, Eminem, Miley Cyrus
  • When I listen to music while skating, it is usually a mix of everything from hip-hop to pop, reggae, metal, and rock.
  • Aggressive Inline Skating and general skating (hip-hop, reggae, rock)
  • Freestyle Slalom Skating (more pop, melodic songs, and sad songs)

17. What motivates me?

  • Hanging out with friends
  • Switching off from everyday life
  • The desire to be able to publish new tutorials for which I have to learn the respective tricks myself and want to learn
  • Staying fit and strengthening my mindset

18. My tips and skate hacks for other skaters:

  • Skate according to your ability and don't take too many risks. This reduces the risk of injury, and you can pursue your favorite sport without interruptions.
  • Skate for yourself and not for others. It doesn't matter how much or how little you can do or how high your level is, but it is important that you enjoy skating and are satisfied with yourself.
  • Don't worry about what others think of you, just skate and have fun.
  • If you have pressure pain in the ankle area, place an additional or higher shock absorber under the heel or under the liner. This changes your foot position, and pressure points can completely disappear.
  • Wearing thick footies while skating. This better protects your ankles from pressure, allows you to skate longer, and is healthier for your bones and skin. If you wear the footies directly on your bare foot and under your socks, it also reduces friction on the skin, and you won't get painful blisters anymore.

19. My first skate that I started with:

USD Carbon Team Blue

20. Favorite movie or series:

  • The Lovely Bones
  • Law Abiding Citizen
  • La casa de papel

21. Favorite food:

  • Seeded bread with fresh garlic and sprouts
  • Whole-grain pasta with fresh garlic, various crunchy vegetables, and olive oil
  • Black bean tempeh with fresh garlic and chili oil

22. Are there other things that fascinate me besides skating?

Material things like cars, brands, technology, or clothing do not impress me much – they should simply fulfill their purpose, nothing more and nothing less.

What really fascinates me are intelligent people with a passion for topics that they pursue with knowledge and dedication.

I also admire people who have developed special skills through creativity, skill, or strength.
I am particularly fascinated when all of this comes together, for example, in a sport like skating, acrobatics, climbing, or dancing, musicals – or in art, playing an instrument, or singing impressively.

People who radiate joy of life, help others, and offer a smile also touch me deeply, as well as healthy, delicious food and people who care about their environment.

23. Do I pursue other hobbies besides skating?

Besides skating, I passionately enjoy bouldering and sport climbing – generally, I love being active. Regular stretching is just as much a part of my routine as preparing healthy and balanced food.

24. What fascinates me about my other hobbies?

Bouldering and climbing are a great balance, or rather, a complement to skating. They keep me fit, flexible, and my body and mind healthy. In addition, it is simply nice because you can talk with your friends between climbing individual routes, it offers a family-friendly atmosphere, and you can always be together, even with the little ones.

25. Fun Fact / Personal:

  • After discovering skating in 2015, I was out on my skates almost every day for about 1.5 years. During this time, I quickly acquired the basics in various skate disciplines and was able to increase my fitness enormously.

In 2018, I took the step into full-time self-employment in the skating industry to gain more time for my passion and fully pursue skating.
But as so often happens in life, things turned out differently: Through self-employment, there was initially less time to skate for myself.

Seven years later, in 2025, I had built up my company to the point where I could finally get back on my skates regularly and live my passion more actively again.
  • Although I have been a big fan of Samy Deluxe's music and art since I was young – whose earlier albums revolved largely around topics such as Heineken (beer) and smoking weed – I have never smoked, smoked weed, or drunk alcohol to this day, and I have no intention of changing that.

His rhyming skills, word acrobatics, and lyrics still fascinate me today.

Daniel Lott – Shop Team – Story of my Skating

The starting signal

I am a passionate and versatile inline and roller skater who loves and lives skating. Driven by this enthusiasm, I began creating my own video and skate tutorials in 2016 to help others get started in the world of skating.

It quickly became clear to me that inline skating was far more than just a hobby. It represents freedom, balance, health, physical and mental fitness, friendship, courage – and so much more. This realization marked the starting point for SkaMiDan.

Skate Trainer with Passion

I was born in 1989 and grew up in the small, idyllic village of Haltingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. There, I had the great fortune of growing up in a friendly neighborhood that always helped one another and celebrated together.

But why am I telling you this? For me, inline skating embodies these exact values: joy, passion, openness, community, overcoming fears, experiencing shared successes, and the pure zest for life. Skating is like a small yet global family spread across the world.

It fills me with purpose to pass on these values. In skating—just like in life—it’s not about being better than others. Comparisons like that never lead to true happiness. So, what do we want in life? We want to be happy, have fun, and overcome the obstacles we face.

That is what drives me and makes skating so special to me.

And what does all of this have to do with skating?

For me, it’s a great joy to help others achieve their goals. It fulfills me to see the smiles and wide grins you have in my courses when you finally master a long-awaited trick or a new skating technique.

It makes me happy to witness how, with my support or that of my colleagues, you discover and learn a shared hobby as a family—a hobby that brings you just as much joy as it brings me and strengthens your bond as a family.

That, to me, is the true essence of skating: growing together, supporting one another, and sharing unforgettable moments.

Incredibly beautiful and motivating feedback

What could be better than direct feedback in the form of a smile?

Not much, right?

Well, there is something else: the wonderful feedback I’ve received as a skate trainer. These moments stay vividly in my memory and bring me joy every time. Here are some of the most memorable ones that I love to look back on:

  • "Thanks to you and your videos, I discovered inline skating. However, with my excess weight, it was almost impossible for me to feel safe on skates.

Without you and your patience as a trainer, I would have given up skating quickly. Thanks to you, I’ve reached my normal weight and now live a happy life again."

  • "We had been searching for a hobby that we could enjoy as a family for a long time. However, our fear of slopes and braking had held us back.

Thanks to you, we can now move more than just confidently on inline skates. We regularly go skating together, which has brought us closer as a family.

For that, we are infinitely grateful to you!"

  • "Our son was terrified of going to school—more precisely, he experienced a kind of panic. Giving a presentation in front of the class or raising his hand during lessons was utterly impossible for him.

Thanks to your aggressive inline skating courses, he learned to overcome fears, fall down, get back up, and achieve self-set goals. Like a miracle, he lost his fear of school and failure through this experience.

He is finally happy and shares so much with us again about his daily life and school."

My favorite skate disciplines

Freestyle Slalom Skating

Inline Freestyle Slalom Skating requires the utmost concentration, a lot of discipline, and an excellent sense of balance. Training together with friends is especially motivating, as you can encourage and support each other.

But inline slalom skating also offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a world of your own. How? Put on your headphones, turn up the music, and dance through the cones. It’s an incomparable feeling of freedom and rhythm that makes you forget the world around you.

I love freestyle slalom skating, even when I’m just rolling through the cones for half an hour practicing basic tricks.

Fitness & Urban Inline Skating

When it comes to fitness and urban inline skating, I can completely switch off while getting a great workout. Whether on streets, bike paths, or through cities – I enjoy the feeling of freedom with every meter.

Fitness skating is risk-free, easy on the joints, keeps you fit, and above all, is incredibly fun with friends and other skaters. It combines exercise, relaxation, and community in the best possible way.

In contrast, urban inline skating also requires confidence and determination – depending on which tricks, obstacles, or gaps you want to master.

My favorite skate disciplines

Aggressive Inline Skating

Aggressive Inline Skating means pushing myself to go beyond my limits. It’s that mental battle before every new trick—the mix of fear, confidence, and awareness of what I’m capable of.

The question: Do I try the trick or not? When I do, everything else fades away, I lose myself in the moment, and I feel that incredible rush of endorphins when I actually go for it and land it.

It’s an indescribable feeling, made even better when shared with friends. Spending a great day together at the skatepark—priceless!

It doesn’t matter whether the others are skating, playing cards, barbecuing, or just chilling.

It’s always a good time.

My other passion

Bouldering & Sport Climbing

When bouldering and sport climbing, it is important to be highly focused. Here I feel and pay attention to my entire body, find my inner and physical balance and am fully present with myself.

Climbing is based on complete trust, in people and loved ones, but above all in oneself.

Nowhere else are death and complete freedom so close together. A small lapse in concentration can have fatal consequences. The confrontation with oneself, nature, one's physical abilities and one's own mind; peace.

Unbedingt empfehlenswert!
Vielen Dank für die tolle Beratung!
